For starters, many of the popular selling Italian language programs have you falsely believe that you can learn to speak Italian without having a solid grammatical foundation. Let me tell you, that's just not possible! To become fluent in Italian you have to think in Italian. And, you can not begin to think in Italian unless you have a good Italian grammar foundation. It's really that simple and straight forward! The second problem that I see is that many of these Italian courses place a lot of emphasis on memorization of words and phrases.
